Estia Privacy Policy
Overview
Estia is a speech transcription and translation app with online and offline modes. This policy explains what data we process, why we process it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
- Audio and language content: Audio you record, transcriptions, translations, and enhancement outputs used to provide core app features.
- Conversation history: Saved conversations and metadata (such as languages, providers, duration, timestamps, and enhancement state) stored on your device.
- Settings and preferences: Language selections, mode and provider settings, feature toggles, onboarding/paywall state, and related app preferences.
- Subscription data: Subscription entitlement and purchase status from Apple and RevenueCat.
- Diagnostics and analytics: App diagnostics and product usage events (for example, feature usage, performance, and reliability events).
- Support communications: Information you provide when contacting support.
How We Use Information
- Deliver transcription, translation, and enhancement functionality.
- Operate online/offline provider routing and improve reliability and performance.
- Enforce subscription and feature access rules.
- Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues.
- Meet legal and compliance obligations.
Online vs Offline Processing
- Offline mode: Processing is designed to run on-device using Apple frameworks when available.
- Online mode: Content may be sent to network providers to process transcription, translation, or AI enhancement features.
Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the app, including categories of providers such as transcription/translation, AI enhancement, subscriptions/billing, and analytics.
Current providers include:
- Transcription and translation providers: Deepgram, AssemblyAI, Google Translate, DeepL, and Apple translation/speech services.
- AI enhancement providers: OpenAI and Anthropic (when applicable features are enabled), and Apple on-device Foundation Models where available.
- Subscriptions and billing: Apple and RevenueCat.
- Analytics: PostHog, if analytics is enabled.
We may add, replace, or remove providers over time. We will update this policy when material changes are made. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Data Retention
- Conversation history stored on your device remains until you delete it (or remove the app and associated local data).
- Support records and operational logs are retained only as long as needed for support, security, and legal obligations.
- When data is processed by third-party providers, their retention practices and policies apply to that processing.
Your Choices and Rights
- You can control microphone and speech permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can select offline mode for privacy-first processing where supported.
- You can disable analytics tracking in app settings.
- You can delete saved conversation history in the app.
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or objection. Contact us to submit a request.
Children's Privacy
Estia is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International Transfers
When online services are used, information may be processed in countries where Estia and its providers operate.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
